EPOCH

EPOCH is a science-fiction/horror game where the goal is survival. You, playing as a time traveler lost in the prehistoric past, must face off against dangerous creatures as well as your fellow crew mates to make it back home.

The Creatures

Each of the creatures in the game is styles as they would have existed in real life based on our current understanding of paleontology. They each exist in a terrain that correlates to the tiles of the map, which is marked by a symbol. Should the player draw a creature that matches the tile they are currently on, that creature gets an attack boost.

The Bosses

These four are the Big Bad Guys of the game. They appear when the player finally locates the escape shuttle and serves as one last foil before making their escape, with the possibility of having to restart your journey. These four are some of the biggest of their kind, and I wanted their card designs to emphasize that.

The Resources

Resource cards assist the player in their survival. They come in four classes: weapons, armor, healing, and sabotage. The first three are self explainatory. Sabotage cards are meant to be played against other players. Since only one can safely escape from the prehistoric past, the player has to make the unsavory decision to sacrifice their crewmates in order to ensure their own survival.

The Map

Each tile represents a different terrain (forest, badlands, swamp, volcanic, and scrublands.) When the player draws a creature with a corresponding terrain, then that creature gets an attack boost. Some of the tiles have symbols on them. These are components that the player must collect in order to fix the escape shuttle before triggering the endgame battle.
